Alabama Constitutions and Constitutional Conventions

The information for this libguide came from the following books: Constitutional Development in Alabama, 1798-1901: A Study in Politics, the Negro, and Sectionalism by Malcom Cook McMillan, Alabama: The History of a Deep South State by William Warren Rogers, Robert David Ward, Leah Rawls Atkins, and Wayne Flynt, and Skinner's Alabama Constitution Annotated: A Complete Digest of All Decisions by the Supreme Court of Alabama Construing the Constitution of Alabama as Amended by Thomas e. Skinner. All of these books and others containing information on the Alabama Constitutions are in circulation at the Alabama Supreme Court and State Law Library. 

The Alabama Supreme Court and State Law Library also has all of the Alabama constitutional conventions available on microfiche. All six Alabama Constitutions appear in the Code of Alabama 1923, Vol. 1 - Political, pp. 61-427. If you would like access to full text of the constitutions please come to the library or contact us.
